K-5 General Music with Mrs. Hickmann
Mrs. Hickmann has loved music her whole life! When she was younger, she used to write her own songs and sing them around the house. Her parents put her in dance lessons when she was 3 and she never stopped! She danced tap, ballet and jazz competitively all through high school. She took piano lessons, was in the chamber choir and played percussion in the high school band (she even played the bass drum in the marching band!).
She is a proud graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Madison (Go Badgers!) with a degree in K-12 Choral and General Music Education with a minor in dance. In college, she sang in the UW Concert Choir, and was music director of the UW Women's a cappella group "Tangled up in Blue", as well as directing a student choreography group and performing with the Jazzworks Dance Company. Outside of school, Mrs. Hickmann also coaches the Varsity Lancerettes Dance Team at Brookfield Central High School. It is a busy job filled with competitions, football, soccer & basketball game halftime performances and lots of practice, but it is super rewarding and a great way to give back to a program that she was once a part of herself! Mrs. Hickmann has MANY favorite books, to name a few... "From the Mixed up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler" by E. L. Konigsburg "The Remarkable Farkle McBride" by John Lithgow "Matilda" by Roald Dahl "Pete the Cat- Rocking in my School Shoes" by Eric Litwin and the entire "Harry Potter" Series Mrs. Hickmann lives in Brookfield with her husband and they enjoy playing card games and remodeling their house. She has taught at Banting Elementary since 2011 and adores the Banting families, students, and teachers! She LOVES putting on fun concerts with the students who always amaze her with their talents. Banting has AWESOME students who love to learn and experience music in new, fun ways! Feel free to contact Mrs. Hickmann with questions at any time! [email protected] 262-970-1250 |
